The England superstar slotted home 20 minutes from time to complete a stunning hat-trick and a resounding win for Pep Guardiola's side. That strike was the fourth of the game, following Brentford's opener through Neal Maupay, taking the weekend's tally across all 10 matches to 45 goals. That amount is a Premier League record since the competition was reduced to a 20-team season from 1995-96 onwards.

Standout results from the weekend's action include Newcastle's thrilling 4-4 draw with Luton, Brighton's 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace, Chelsea getting stunned 4-2 at home by Wolves and Aston Villa romping past Sheffield United at Bramall Lane 5-0. The lowest scoring game was the 1-1 draw between Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

For Premier League fans City's dominant end to the campaign will be a familiar sight. Guardiola's have now won five in a row in the league and have lost just once since October. Their clash with familiar rivals Liverpool on March 10 will be of supreme importance, as Arsenal will be waiting in the wings for any slip-up.
